Blog EntrySo before I go on an short hiatus...Jan 15, '08 8:12 AM
for everyone
I had so much fun this past week. I went there, got to know them, did that, and something more. I had a blast, that I forgot about my academics. And apparently, I wanted to forget about it.

Tuesday last week was the celebration of the UP Centennial. It was also the day when students from Dongshin University in South Korea toured the UP Campus. Instead of going home early to review for my Physics72 exam, I instead went to serve as one of the campus tour guides with my fellow Arirang-ers.

Then the exam date came. The exam wasn't cancelled despite the suspension of 7-to-12 classes. Of course, I wasn't prepared enough, so I more or less expected what to expect.

Last Monday, a day past after the POGS, we had our first long exam in EM36. Of course, with my darn study habits (if I did have one), I wasn't confident with the result.

I just learned this morning that last Friday, when I cut my GE10 class for the farewell party for the Dongshin students, my classmates had a short quiz, and they were given a problem set to be passed TOMORROW before we could take the exam which is still dated TOMORROW, at 9 to 12. So I was totally dumbfounded after hearing that news.

And then, the result of my Physics72. I wasn't disappointed even for just a bit; I expected it anyway.

Then later today, there was a job fair at the Engineering lobby. I saw this booth by Catapult Communications. Being apparently a computer geek of sorts, I sort of inquired. There an American going by the name of Barna Youngs entertained my inquiry, and that's when the conversation became more interesting and educating; the orientation became more of a counseling session.

My English was on crack, and my ears were deafening due to the noises, but that didn't stop me from getting the drift of what Mr. Youngs was talking about. By the way, at the start of the conversation, it was as if he had just read what's on my mind. He started talking about me: what I want, what I want to be, what my problems are, how I feel about my current course, how I should handle things, and what I should do next.

He lectured me about the interest inventory test. It was an evaluation test that determines what path a person should take in pursuing a career. Then I actually remembered being offered to take that exam before I shifted to BS Mining Engineering. I never took that test, so that's why I don't feel good about it anymore. He suggested that I take that test before making any rush decisions of shifting out again.

After talking to him, I felt like I lightened up a bit. Talking with this Mr. Youngs definitely cleared some things inside my mind. After the conversation, I thanked the guy and went straight to Vinzons Hall to take the interest inventory test. It is a four-part test: I've just taken two out of four due to time constraints; the Office of Guidance and Counseling would be closing soon when I took it.

So there. I've said what's on my mind now. I am still to answer the GE10 problem set due tomorrow before I could take our exam on that darn subject. And maybe I couldn't be attending our Physics72 laboratory session tomorrow, since the time for our exam exactly hit the timeslot for our lab class. I just have to ask one of my groupmates to pass my answer sheet for me.

And I still got Geol50 to think about. Not to mention our camping starting this Friday night, then our Stat101 next Monday, then our Geol50 lab exam the day after that. Oh, I just hope I can get rid of all this in a snap.

And from this moment begins my short hiatus from Multiply. I just hope I can be disciplined enough to stop from Multiply-ing temporarily.
